According to the president of the Lot-et-Garonne chamber of agriculture, the bulls that will be euthanized this Saturday, September 24, will be cremated in the Lot or Gironde departments.

Pressure from the president of the Chamber of Agriculture of Lot-et-Garonne, Serge Bousquet-Cassagne, has apparently led to some changes in the case of young bulls refused by Algeria. “This waste is incomprehensible, especially in the current context”, declared the Lot-et-Garonne manager in our columns.

Indeed, 780 bulls tossed between France and Algeria must be euthanized. According to the departmental manager, the animals will be this Saturday, September 24 in establishments in Aveyron. Jacques Molières, his counterpart at the Aveyron chamber of agriculture, told AFP that “the state has requisitioned the slaughterhouses of Rodez and Saint-Affrique to kill the bulls”.

As for the incineration of the carcasses, it will not take place in the rendering plant at the Passage d’Agen, as envisaged at the start. The rural coordination of Lot-et-Garonne and the chamber of agriculture were ready to block the entrance to the site in protest. Still the president of the Lot-et-Garonne chamber of agriculture, the carcasses of young bulls could be burned in the Lot department or in Gironde.
