“Fantastic, magical, interactive…”
Mini-assessment after the first morning: we didn’t know what to expect, but it’s up to the announcements. It’s fantastic, magical, interactive…
It looks like living dogs and the people of Villeurbanne have already adopted them! We can’t wait to see them together.
And this start under the sun was great, while rain is announced for this weekend…

12:05 | The Bull Thing and Xolo are going to take a nap
The two giant dogs stop there for this Friday morning.
They will leave this afternoon: Xolo at 2:45 p.m. from Place Chanoine-Boursier for an arrival at 4:30 p.m. in front of the town hall (Henri-Barbusse side), the Bull Machin at 3:30 p.m. in front of the town hall (Henri-Barbusse side) for aArrival at 5:30 p.m. at Place Wilson.
11:45 am | The public leans in favor of the Bull Machin
It is rather logical, since the Bull thing is according to his biography Villeurbannais.
He walks the streets of his city with a cigar in his mouth.
11:30 a.m. | The children take their eyes off it
Many schools came to watch the show.
All the pupils of the city received postcards representing the dogs and worked in class on the fable.
11:25 a.m. | The Bull Machin woke up
The second dog has appeared.
The Bull Machin, local of the stage against the Aztec Xolo, drools a little, but looks in good shape.
11:00 a.m. | The public gets to know Xolo
One of the two dogs woke up, under the eyes of the Villeurbannais public.
Among the crowd, we note in particular the Minister of Culture Rima Abdul-Malak and Cédric Van Styvendael, Mayor of Villeurbanne.
10:20 a.m. | The crowd eagerly awaits the start of the festivities
This Friday morning many spectators are already massed in Villeurbanne, in front of the town hall. Young and old alike eagerly await the start of the three-day festivity.

Free show, open to all, free. Cost: 2 million euros (1 million financed by the State subsidy within the framework of Villeurbanne, French capital of culture and as many patrons).
The Minister of Culture, Rima Abdul-Malak, will make the trip to Villeurbanne. She will be present Friday morning, for the launch of the event.
How to get there ?
Give priority to public transport (an exceptional system has been put in place and the frequency of 4 metro lines, A, B, C and D, has been increased, relay buses, etc.). Beware of parking: it will be free in Villeurbanne during the three days of festivities, but the perimeter (in particular the Cours Emile-Zola) will be subject to many bans and changes to parking and traffic, between Thursday and Monday . Detail street by street on the sites: villeurbanne.fr and villeurbanne2022.fr.
A show created for Villeurbanne
This Friday is the first day of a unique weekend in Villeurbanne. Designated French capital of culture, the city hosts THE big event of the start of the school year. The most famous street theater company “Royal de Luxe” takes to the streets with a unique show, created for Villeurbanne.
What to expect ?
The story is that of the “Bull Machin de Villeurbanne”, a bulldog baptized “Machin” born under the cobblestones of Villeurbanne, and which bears the DNA of the city. He will participate in a dog race (a “grand prize”) with a counterpart with whom he has nothing to do: “Xolo” (pronounced “Cholo”), a hairless dog, Aztec, god in Mexico, mythological almost, emerging from a block of ice, the only survivor of the legendary “Saga of the Giants” which made Royal de Luxe famous. Both will take a crowd bath, from the top of their 5 meters for several tons.
