The Tesla Model Y is the star of the latest batch of automotive innovations tested by EuroNCAP, in its traditional crash tests and other on-board safety measures. The family SUV of the Elon Musk brand, now also assembled in the new factory in Berlin, Germany, has achieved records according to the rating criteria of the European body. The Model Y indeed obtains the maximum rating of five stars, like the recent Lexus NX, the Cupra Born, the Mercedes T-Class or the Volkswagen Multivan. But the ratings it achieves are the highest ever measured by the body for occupant protection and safety assistance.

The Model Y has an impressive score of 97% in occupant protection and 98% in safety assistance systems. It also receives good scores for child protection (87%) and pedestrian protection (82%). According to EuroNCAP measurements, the American electric SUV does not suffer from any safety shortcomings.

The EuroNCAP highlights the effectiveness of its systems for detecting surrounding dangers (via the new Tesla Vision) but also the structural safety of its chassis and battery pack. Never has the organization scored a vehicle so well in its most demanding and severe test protocol.
