The first to benefit from a Gault & Millau endowment in 2014 was Alexandre Mazzia… and today he has 5 toques in the yellow guide for his Marseille restaurant AM! It’s all the harm we wish for the current young chefs distinguished by Gault & Millau, for the south-east region, whose names were revealed on Monday, October 24 at the Paul-Bocuse institute.
The class of 2022 rewarded four addresses to follow closely: Edgar Bosquez (Ekume, Marseille), Clément Torres (Saba, Annecy), Maxime Ardin (Abîme in Gruffy, Haute-Savoie) and Najem Atmeh and Corinne Bec (Ayla).
Soon a restaurant in the 6e borough
A real springboard for young chefs, the Gault & Millau Young Talent Endowment is a grant, in equipment and raw materials, offered each year to a selection of high-potential winners who want to open their first restaurant.
Patrick Hayoun, Chairman and CEO, and Marc Esquerré, Director of Investigations at Gault & Millau, thus presented their prizes to the future chefs of Ayla, which should open in February in Lyon, Place de l’Europe, in the 6th district. Najem Atmeh and Corinne Bec met at the Grand Réfectoire in Lyon and are working on the upcoming opening (planned for February 2023) of Ayla, which will be a mix of their two cultures, Lebanese and French.
