Queues on the sidewalks for free food handouts have become daily scenes in the UK. The country, among the world’s biggest powers, now has more food banks than McDonald’s and KFC franchises. Faced with the rising cost of living, the queues have never counted so many newcomers. “Everything is expensive, it’s very hard”laments a woman moved to tears.

“Before, I gave food here. Now we are the ones who need it”testifies a beneficiary of these food banks. Seven million Britons skip meals for lack of means, an increase of 50% compared to last year. So, food banks are organized on an industrial scale. But at a time when the demand for food is exploding, donations have fallen sharply.
