Solar panels are currently popular for their performance and we are trying to catch up on the territory. You should know that if the subject is of interest to individuals, it is not with your solar panels that we will achieve better energy efficiency across the country. On the other hand, solar farms are a concept to follow.
Indeed, the installation inaugurated on Thursday October 6 by Michael COUDYSER, Managing Director of CORSICA SOLE and Dominique PELLIN, Mayor of Picarreau provides the annual electricity consumption of 10,000 households, equivalent to the population of the Lons-le-Saunier conurbation, prefecture of the Jura department.
This plant produces 29,800 MWh of electricity per year.
The origin of the solar farm project
The Picarreau Solar Farm project was initiated by Mr. Dominique PELLIN and the Municipality of Picarreau. In 2016, CORSICA SOLE’s proposal for the development, construction and operation of the plant was selected following a call for projects. In 2019, the Picarreau Solar Farm was named the winner of the national call for tenders from the Energy Regulation Commission (CRE).
The development of the Solar Farm was carried out in close collaboration with local and regional players. The project was instructed so that the plant complies with high environmental quality conditions relating to heritage, landscape, soil, air and water quality, as provided for by the regulations.
A project with a territorial dimension
The Solar Farm was partly financed by the municipality of Picarreau, as well as by the inhabitants of the Jura department and the neighboring departments (Ain, Côte d’Or, Doubs, Haute-Saône and Saône-et-Loire).
“Our community’s desire to invest in the energy transition gave rise to the Picarreau Solar Farm project in 2016, explains Dominique PELLIN, the Mayor of Picarreau. Our Municipal Council has drawn up complete and binding specifications so that the land, which has been fallow for many years, becomes an economic and ecological vector for the region. It is through determination, motivation and insight that our municipal team has gone through all the stages of a long and difficult journey of more than six years. The result is a magnificent Solar Farm that I recommend you discover through the three educational kiosks placed on its peripheral route »
