Sylvia and Hamdi Zamit have taken over an old vacant business to set up their Restaurant Le Voyageopen since Monday August 29, 2022, Rue Victor Boissel at Laval (Mayenne).
From gendarmes to restaurateur
After having held several businesses in the restaurant business while being a policeman in Tunisia, Hamdi Zamit chose to come and settle in France. There too, he chained several jobs in Laval, from Bridor to the Imaye printing press.
He even undergoes training to become a butcher. “Initially, I wanted to set up a butcher’s shop here,” explains Hamdi Zamit. Then, we saw that there was potential for a restaurant. »
The jug ahead
Behind the stove, the cook offers two dishes a day “varying as much as possible”. On Saturdays, he puts on the menu a desert specialty that is little known in France. “I cook meat in a jug for several hours. It’s a kind of mud that comes from the desert. »
Lover of the good table, he promises food with local products. “Right now, we’re doing twenty place settingsbut with the room next door that we are going to fit out, we will make fifty more covers, ”says Sylvia Zamit.
