Moreover, Prince William would also love this cake, to the point that the Queen asked that it be prepared when her grandson came for tea, and it was even her wedding cake in 2011.

What is chocolate biscuit cake?

Who said monarchs have complicated tastes? The queen’s favorite pastry is indeed a simple cake with Petit Beurre biscuits and dark chocolate. No expensive or hard to find ingredients, no advanced techniques to master. The preparation does not even require cooking, but resting in the refrigerator to let it set. The cookies are crushed and then mixed with melted chocolate, butter, sugar and an egg.
The whole is then covered with melted chocolate and then decorated with chocolate. Easy, isn’t it?

Chocolate biscuit cake recipe

Preparation: 20 mins

For 4 people

  • 4g unsalted butter
  • 227g Petit Beurre biscuits
  • 113 g salted butter at room temperature
  • 113g caster sugar
  • 113g dark chocolate
  • 1 egg

For frosting and decoration

  • 225g dark chocolate + 28g

Grease a 15 cm diameter round mold with soft butter.
Coarsely crumble the cookies.
Whip the salted butter and sugar into a cream.
Melt the chocolate. Mix it with butter and sugar.
Incorporate the egg, then the crumbled biscuits.
Pour the preparation into the mold, packing the preparation.
Reserve in the refrigerator for 3 hours.
Take the cake out of the fridge, let it come to room temperature while you prepare the frosting.
Melt 255 g of dark chocolate in a bain-marie.
Place the cake on a baking rack, cover it with melted chocolate. Smooth with a spatula, leave to harden at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

The chef adds that you can use the remaining 28g of dark chocolate to decorate the cake.

Finally, do not forget to accompany it with a cup of tea as Queen Elisabeth loved it to taste it.
