Breweries: La Voie Maltée closes its Place de la Cité branch

The brewer La Voie Maltée announced on its Facebook page that it will cease operations at its restaurant located at Place de la Cité in Quebec City on Saturday at midnight.

This restaurant had opened in July 2018 in the location of another former high place of nightlife in Quebec, the Beaugarte.

The branch occupied a space of 10,000 sq.2 offering 275 places. Three million dollars had been invested in the adventure which was to create a hundred jobs.

In its message, the company, which this year celebrates its 20e anniversary, invokes the “current post-pandemic context” and the “large area becoming more and more difficult to operate to give the Malty Way experience”.

The company wanted to be reassured about the fate of its three other restaurants by writing that the “group is still doing very well” and that “the other branch (in Quebec) on rue Pierre-Bertrand remains open and will offer soon a brand new pizza menu”.

La Voie Maltée’s production plant is located in the borough of Chicoutimi.

The group has a restaurant in this sector, on boulevard Talbot, as well as on rue Saint-Dominique, in the borough of Jonquière.
