Aito M5 EV based on Huawei’s DriveONE platform
The Aito M5 EV is based on Huawei’s DriveONE platform designed for all-electric driving and is equipped with Huawei’s Dynamic Adaptive Torque System DATS, which has a response time – depending on the road – of 4ms . The AITO M5 EV, a fully electric version of the AITO M5, is a mid-size SUV measuring 4,785mm in length, 1,930mm in width and 1,620mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,880mm.
The single-engine version with electric drive in the rear has an output of 200 kW and should accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds. CATL’s LFP battery would offer 80 kWh, allowing a range of 620 kilometers by Chinese standards.
The all-wheel-drive version is equipped with an additional front engine with a power of 165 kW. No information on performance has been communicated except that the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4.5 seconds via this model. The 80 kWh CATL battery is also used in this variant. A range of 552 kilometers is indicated.
Aito M5 EV: all-electric offshoot of the Seres SF 5,
The Aito M5 EV isn’t entirely new: it’s the all-electric offshoot of the Seres SF 5, which, along with the Aito M7, is one of the company’s two previously produced vehicle models. They are electric vehicles with extended autonomy.
First deliveries in March 2022
Aito delivered 10,045 vehicles in August, surpassing the 10,000 delivery mark for the first time. In July, the figure was 7,228 deliveries. Deliveries of the Aito M5 started in March 2022. The Aito M7 was first delivered on August 24.
Qilin batteries on new Aito models
Going forward, CATL’s Qilin batteries are expected to power new Aito models, following a partnership agreement with Seres in 2021. The strategic cooperation agreement covers a period of five years. The new Qilin batteries have a volume utilization efficiency of 72% and an energy density of up to 255 Wh/kg. As a result, a range of over 1,000 kilometers could be achieved. Also announced are the possibilities of a hot start in 5 minutes and a fast charge in 10 minutes.

The AITO M5 EV is available in two versions, targeting the Tesla Model Y market … with a lower entry price.
Also for comparison, the three versions of the Tesla Model Y sold in China have a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.9 seconds, 5.0 seconds and 3.7 seconds, and a CLTC range. of 545 km, 660 km and 615 km, respectively.

Aito, a subsidiary of South Korea’s Huawei and China’s Seres, has just launched its first all-electric model in China. Called the Aito M5 EV, the electric SUV is available with rear or all-wheel drive at prices starting at 288,600 and 319,800 yuan (about 41,765 euros and 46,280 euros, respectively).
